An Easy to Use College Planning Checklist for Sophomores.
In my sophomore year, I learned some great lessons that helped me with my college life. When you are a freshman, college still seems chaotic, and you are beginning to make new friends and getting to know the teachers and subjects you want to study. Here are the 10 most important lessons I learned that are valuable to any second-year student.I am only 17 years old so I can’t write as much as someone twice my age so to say, but I strictly know my high school goals, college goals, career goals, and personal goals. As a 17 year old I have a lot already planned out so I will soon see how close I follow my goals. My first and most important short-term goal is to finish high school.Sophomore year, in fact, was all that people told me it was, but what I think makes me different from the others is that I have no regrets in respect to my performance and the choices I made. From taking my first AP class to taking on the responsibility of editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, the year was stressful.
The term in question was first applied to second-year students in college, not high school. At Cambridge University (founded in 1209), second- and third-year students were called sophisters. Perhaps their arguments weren’t expected to be as lucid as those of upperclassmen. By the late 1600s, this appellation had morphed in sophomore.Attending college is the first step to a better future. Throughout life there will be many goals to accomplish but some of the most important goals to accomplish will be during the time you are in college. My first goal is to pass every class this semester. After completing this goal my next goal to complete will be to graduate from Hudson.
During sophomore year, you don’t want to spend too much time obsessing over college admissions. Instead, focus on figuring out what kind of student—and person—you want to be. This year, budget your time according to what your different activities mean to you and the value they add to your life. Extracurriculars should be authentically.
